It is long past due time to begin demanding accountability and an end to the policies and systems that make up the War on Terror apparatus.

Our Origin Story

In December of 2020, Justice for Muslims Collective brought together a group of partner grassroots organizations across the country that are led and rooted in communities targeted by the War on Terror.

The War on Terror is the infrastructure used to police, surveil and incarcerate African, Black, Indigenous, Muslim, Middle Eastern, Arab, and South Asian communities under the guise of national security. It is codified through a set of laws, policies, and programs. According to Brown University’s Cost of War Project, the global War on Terror has resulted in the murder of 12 million individuals and has produced 37 million refugees across the world. Overall, the War on Terror has cost the American public 6.4 trillion dollars.

Collectively, we built the “Abolishing the War on Terror, Building Communities of Care” grassroots policy agenda and released it in February of 2021. Muslim Abolitionist Futures is a continuation of that critical and collaborative work. It is a platform and network with a focus on uplifting strategies, campaigns and organizations working to abolish the War on Terror. With this interactive website, our cross-movement convenings and the creation of the National Network to Abolish the War on Terror, we are committed to abolishing the War on Terror with clear coordination of campaigns and movement demands.
